Fire destroys home in Estacada
Neighbors awoke to the house next door fully engulfed
Fire all but destroyed a newer home in the 21600 block of South McKenzie Lane early Friday, Dec. 30.
Estacada Rural Fire District received a call at 6 a.m. reporting the house was completely engulfed in flames.
The home, which was built within the past five years, had been purchased on Dec. 22.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the owners told firefighters they were refinishing floors until 10 p.m. Dec. 29, the night before the fire.
Fire Chief Alan Hull said the fire is most likely related to that process.
By the time the firefighters responded, the entire roof was already in flames. It took crews from Estacada Rural Fire District, Clackamas Fire District No. 1 and Boring Fire District several hours to extinguish the blaze.
