Book Signing

Local author Kathryn Hurd will host a reading and book signing for her newly published book of Estacada history, "Estacada Sagas." She will also introduce her new children's book, "Esther's Wild Rides," set in Estacada in 1904. Books will be available for purchase at the event, scheduled for Monday, Aug. 28, at Hi School Pharmacy, 207 Broadway St.

Farmers Market

The Estacada Farmers Market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 30, outside Wade Creek House Antiques, 664 N.W. Wade St.

Estacada High School All Alumni Reunion

A reunion is open to all who attended Estacada schools, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at picnic section two in Barton Park. Participants should bring a food dish and their own beverages for a potluck lunch at 1 p.m. Food should not be brought in glass containers. There is a $5 per family registration fee and a $5 parking fee per vehicle. Attendees are also encouraged to bring canned food donations. Estacada High School class of 1977 reunion

Members of Estacada High School's class of 1977 are invited to celebrate their 40th class reunion from Aug. 25-27 at the Resort at the Mountain in Welches. Activities on Friday, Aug. 25, include a meet and greet from 4-6 p.m. at the Mallard Pub and a social from 6-9 p.m. in the Breamer room. Saturday, Aug. 26, will feature golf beginning at 9 a.m. and dinner from 5-7 p.m. in the Trees Meeting Room. The cost of dinner is $60 per person. Shop Local Trade Fair

From noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, on the lawn in front of City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St., the Estacada Chamber of Commerce will hold the Shop Local Trade Fair. The event will showcase businesses in the community. Free hot dogs will be served, and the Mossy Rock Ramblers will play live music. For more information, contact the Chamber at 503-630-3483.

Quilt Club

Spinning Group

The Estacada spinning and fiber arts group meets from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays at Betty Veveiros CPA, 309 S.W. Highway 224.

Coffee with Firefighters

Estacada fire holds a community coffee at 9 a.m. the first Tuesday of each month at the fire station, 445 S.E. Currin St. The event is an opportunity to meet firefighters and staff, ask questions and learn about the district.

PUBLIC MEETINGS

City Council

The Estacada City Council meets from 7-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St. Call 503-630-8270.

School Board

The Estacada School Board meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St.

COMMUNITY CENTER

Weekday lunches and games

Lunch is served in the center's dining room for all ages at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with full salad bar on Tuesdays and Fridays. Donations are suggested for seniors; lunch is $4 for those under 60. Chicken foot dominoes follows Monday and Thursday lunches. Bingo follows lunch on Tuesday and Friday. Wednesday breakfasts

The center offers a $5 breakfast for all ages at 9 a.m. Wednesdays with a door prize drawing and with pinochle and cribbage following breakfast for those interested. Call 503-630-7454 for bus service to breakfast.

Zumba classes

Zumba classes are held at the center from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday evenings and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. some Saturday mornings. Zumba is $5 per class, or $25 for a monthly pass. Call 503-680-4338 for more information.

Dance Fitness with Susan

Exercise to music for all fitness levels on Tuesday and Thursday evenings with Susan Wagner at the center from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Free Tai Chi classes

Free Tai Chi classes for ages 12 and up are held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the center.

Seniors exercise class

Exercise classes for seniors are held at 9:30 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays at the center.

Tae Kwon Do classes

Tae Kwon Do classes for ages 8 and up are held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays downstairs at the center. Call 503-975-7119 for information and cost.

Weight- loss group

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), a weight-loss group open to all ages, meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday mornings at the center.

Library, ping-pong, puzzles and computer solitaire

Drop in to the Community Center from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Alcoholics Anonymous

An Alcoholics Anonymous group meets from 7-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Assembly of God Church, 478 N.W. Wade St. Another AA group meets from 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays at St. Aloysius Parish, 297 N.W. Broadway St.

Narcotics Anonymous

A Narcotics Anonymous group meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at 295 N.W. Wade St. Call 503-290-4507 for more information.

Grief Share

The Grief Share group is there for people who have lost a close friend or loved one, helping to turn mourning into acceptance and to remind them of the joy that remains in life. The program consists of a 13-week study utilizing a workbook, videos and discussion. Confidentiality is required of all who attend. Grief Share meets from 2-4 p.m. Mondays and 4-6 p.m. Thursdays at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church, 29275 S.E. Eagle Creek Road.
