This weekend, a group of athletes appreciated scenery along the Clackamas River during the 34th annual Best Dam Run.

Organized by the Oregon Road Runners Club, the 10K walk and run begins near North Fork Lake and ends in downtown Estacada. Once they reached the finish line Saturday, Sept. 23, participants enjoyed vendor booths, a raffle, food and a beer garden in the Clackamas River Growlers parking lot.

This year's event drew 500 participants, approximately 50 more than it has in recent years.

For many of those participants, the race's scenery — including forested views, wildlife and rushing sounds of the river — was the highlight of the event.

"It's a beautiful fall day," said race participant Jason Hansen. "I love running along the river."
