Connect with free meals this summer
During the academic year, many children appreciate the guarantee of a healthy meal that the school day provides.
In the 2017-18 school year, 51 percent of students in the Estacada School District qualified for free or reduced price lunch. While school is out for the summer, the opportunities to connect with meals will continue for these students and others.
The Estacada School District's summer meals program will begin on Monday, June 18, and continue through Thursday, Aug. 16. Meals are free for those 18 and younger, and adults can purchase breakfast for $2.50 and lunch for $3.50. The program will run Mondays through Fridays.
This summer, the number of children served is expected to increase because of meals served at Estacada's new Summer Academy program, as well as partnerships with Todos Juntos Kindergarten Jump Start and the Barton Church Vacation Bible School.
District leaders estimate that an additional 1,132 meals could be served through connections with these programs.
