EVENTS

"A Touch of Class" Fundraiser

"A Touch of Class Experience," a dance show led by Elaine Leatham, will host a benefit for the Estacada Community Center's Meals on Wheels program. The event, scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at the Center at 200 S.W. Club House Drive, will feature dinner and dance performances. Cost is $10 per person, and advanced reservations are required. Call the Community Center at 503-630-7454.

Summer Celebration

The annual Estacada Summer Celebration is July 27-28 on Broadway Street in downtown Estacada. The giant block party features live music, labyrinth painting, an art fair, activities for children and much more. For a full schedule of events, visit www.estacadasc.org.

Out to Pasture Open House

Out to Pasture Animal Sanctuary, a nonprofit group in Estacada, will host its annual Open House from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, July 14. The free event will feature complimentary vegan lunch, a cupcake walk, raffles and games like a three-legged race and a watermelon eating contest. Out to Pasture is at 33190 S.E. Regan Hill Road

Quilt Show

The Garfield Skip-a-Week's Quilt Show is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 27, and Saturday, July 28, at Estacada First Baptist Church, 29101 S.E. Eagle Creek Road. The event will feature quilts on display, fabrics and quilts for sale and quilt documentation. Though the event is free, donations are appreciated.

Yoga Classes

Beginning Vinyasa and Hatha yoga classes are held at 2:30 p.m. Mondays and 7 p.m. Tuesdays at the Viola Community Club, 22364 S. Redland Road. Classes are suited for all skill levels. The cost is $5 per class.

Quilt Club

The Skip-a-Week club meets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays at the Garfield Grange, 33460 S.E. Divers Road. For information, call 503-630-4669.

Spinning Group

The Estacada spinning and fiber arts group meets from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Fridays at Betty Veveiros CPA, 309 S.W. Highway 224.

Texas Hold'em Poker

A free Texas Hold'em poker game is from 7-9 p.m. every Thursday at the Country Restaurant, 341 Main St. Another game of mad poker is at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Cazadero Inn, 352 S.W. Highway 224. Prizes are included.

Food Bank

The Estacada Area Food Bank is open from 10-11:45 a.m. and 12:30-3:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Food is available monthly to community members in Estacada, Eagle Creek, Colton, Carver and Barton who meet income requirements. To join the all-volunteer organization or to get food, call 503-630-2888 or stop by the Food Bank at 272 Broadway St.

Green Burial discussion

From 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 13, Elizabeth Fournier will speak about about her new book "The Green Burial Guide" and discuss options that are available for environmentally friendly burials. The event is free and does not require registration.

Wade Creek storytime

and playgroup

An outdoor storytime and playgroup for all ages is scheduled at 11 a.m. July 13, July 20, July 27, Aug. 3, Aug. 10 and Aug. 17, at Wade Creek Park.

Stretch, dance, play

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, Iris Nason of Growing Arts will lead participants in a creative movement experience.

Bilingual Kids' Music

At 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, Nathalia will use a creative bilingual approach to engage families in a fun-filled concert.

Oregon Rocks

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, participants will learn about the forces that have shaped Oregon's landscape.

Micah and Me Children's Music Show

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, a family dance party will feature upbeat, educational and silly songs.

Craft program

At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, there will be a craft program with projects related to the "Libraries Rock!" summer reading theme.

SUPPORT GROUPS

Alcoholics Anonymous

An Alcoholics Anonymous group meets from 7-8 p.m. every Thursday at the Assembly of God Church, 478 N.W. Wade St. Another AA group meets from 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays and Fridays at Saint Aloysius Hall, 297 N.W. Broadway St. This group also holds a speaker's meeting on the first Friday of the month.

Narcotics Anonymous

A Narcotics Anonymous group meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at 295 N.W. Wade St. Call 503-290-4507 for more information.

Grief share

The Grief Share group is there for people who have lost a close friend or loved one, helping to turn mourning into acceptance and to remind them of the joy that remains in life. Grief Share groups meet from 2-4 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m.

PUBLIC MEETINGS

City Council

The Estacada City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Mon-

day, July 23, at City Hall,

School Board

The Estacada School Board will meet 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, in the Estacada High School Choir Room, 355 N.E. Sixth Ave.

Cemetery District

The Estacada Cemetery District meets at 4 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at City Hall, 475 S.E. Main St. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 2.

Volunteer opportunities

The center needs volunteers for many different jobs, including Meals on Wheels drivers, drivers to medical appointments, kitchen and dining room help, answering phones and greeting visitors, and yard work. Call 503-630-7454 for more information on how to volunteer.

Weekday lunches and games

Lunch is served in the center's dining room for all ages at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, with a full salad bar on Tuesdays and Fridays. Donations are suggested for seniors; lunch is $4 for those under age 60. Chicken foot dominoes follows Monday and Thursday lunches. Bingo follows lunch on Tuesday and Friday. Saturday breakfasts

Estacada Community Outreach hosts a free breakfast at the center from 8-11 a.m. the third Saturday of each month except December.
