Eighth-grade boys’ basketball is 11-3 with five games to play.

The team is being led by Trevor Shoop, our point guard.

He is leading the league in scoring with his breakaway quickness for layups and his quick hands on defense with steals and interception.

Trevor scored 48 points in our game with Rex Putnam for his season high game.

His other good games scoring were: Newberg 20, Gladstone 29 and 23, West Linn 22, Lake Ride 37, Barlow 27.

Last Monday night (Feb. 3) at Wilson Junior High he had 30 points and we had another team victory.

The points are nice, but I’ve been more impressed with his leadership in practice. He hustles on everything and his maturity has really been a big factor in our team record.

We lost to Wilsonville in overtime by a couple and lost to West Linn by a couple.

We work hard on our transition game and our combination defense.

The rest of the team is starting to show great improvement in their basketball fundamentals of the game.

I look forward to watching these players next year in high school.
