Jordan Scott Cox

Sandy resident Jordan Scott Cox died as the result of a car accident Friday, Sept. 21. He was 16.

A funeral service was held Saturday, Sept. 29, at Sandy Assembly of God Church, 39800 Highway 26. Private inurnment will be at Cliffside Cemetery.

Jordan was born Jan. 8, 1996, in Gresham to Scott and Cindy (Rice) Cox. He was raised in Corbett, Sandy and Estacada.

Jordan loved his Honda. He enjoyed anything involving technology, including cell phones and computers, riding his quad and listening to music with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Scott Cox, and grandfather, Ron Rice.

Survivors include his mother, Cindy Cox, and her fiance, Mark Evens, of Sandy; sisters, Rachael Cox of Welches and Chelsea Cox of Gresham; stepbrothers, Jacob and Gabe Evens of Sandy; grandparents, Doug and Linda Telford of Estacada, and Herb and Elaine Cox of Florida; and several aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Alan Gary Applegate

Sandy resident Alan Applegate died at his home on Sunday, Sept. 30. He was 49.

A celebration of his life with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 6, at Estacada Funeral Chapel. Private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.

Alan Gary Applegate was born Oct. 14, 1962 in Oakland, Calif. to Gary and Arlene (Reagan) Applegate.

Because of his father’s naval career, his family lived in California, Illinois, and Hawaii before settling in Boring in 1975. He entered into the U.S. Army in 1981 and served in the Gulf War, Germany and Korea. He later served in the Oregon Army National Guard until his death.

In 1984, he married Annette Ahren in Boring and they had three boys.

Alan enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music, camping and technology of all kinds.

Survivors include his companion, Tami Singer of Sandy; mother and step father, Arlene and Bob Laughlin of Boring; sons, Nathan, David and Daniel Applegate of Troutdale; sisters, Pam Vincent and her husband Rick of Eagle Creek, Tamara Graybeal and her husband Doug of Ocean Shores, Wash. and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
