Team takes third place in large team division

Members of the Estacada High School equestrian team are riding high after a strong showing at their February meet.

The meet took place the first three days of last month, and saw several members of the team earn high marks for their performances.

Estacada placed third in the large team division, with 565 total points.

In performance events, Dani Goodrich took first place in jumping and fourth in dressage. Courtney Hegelson took first in driving and third at in-hand trail. Breanne Stout placed second in that category.

The team and its members also did well in timed events. Angela Krueger took second in individual flags and pole bending. Kara Kammers took fourth in that event.

Stout placed third in the timed figure eight competition.

Estacada’s Kaylynn Griffin took top honors at the timed key hole event.

Team events were also a highlight of Estacada’s performance at the meet. It took second place in the drill team event, with a team consisting of Griffin, Goodrich, Krueger, Krystal Strickland, Danielle Moser and Sabrina Moore.

A team consisting of Kammers, Griffin, Jessica Christenson and Krueger took fourth place in the Canadian flags event. The team of Kammers and Krueger took first place in the working pairs category.

Griffin, Christenson, Stout and Hegelson won first at the in-hand obstacle relay. Kammers, Krueger, Moser and Kaitlyn Mixon took third place in that event.

In the team penning category, Goodrich, Emily Strasser and Teresa Mantei took fourth place.

Overall, Hegelson earned 63 performance points. Krueger earned the same number of points for gaming.
