Drivers blood-alcohol content reported by police to be twice the legal limit

Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on Martin Road north of Forest Grove last Wednesday at around 11 p.m.

The 28-year-old driver of a 1995 Ford Escort reportedly lost control of the car after attempting to pass four other vehicles at a high speed and collided with a telephone pole and a barn. The three occupants of the vehicle were transported to an area hospital and all are reported to be in stable condition. The driver and a 26-year-old male passenger were treated and released, and a 21-year-old female passenger is being treated for numerous lacerations and broken bones.

The driver had a blood alcohol content nearly twice the legal limit. He was arrested and lodged at the Washington County Jail with bail set at $20,000.

Witnesses reported reckless driving of the vehicle. The roadway was closed for more than four hours while the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team assisted with the investigation, which is continuing.
