by: COURTESY PHOTO: DUSTIN VANDEHEY/TUALITY HEALTHCARE - Crystal Hughes cradles her newborn daughter, Charlotte Morgan Hughes, at Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro last Wednesday. Charlotte was one of more than two dozen 12/12/12 babies born in the metro area. Charlotte Morgan Hughes waited until the twelfth day of the twelfth month of 2012.

She was scheduled to arrive Nov. 30, but instead was one of several babies born at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center last Wednesday (12/12/12), a day that many believe will bring good luck and good fortune. She was just in time to secure the birthday of a lifetime — babies won’t have the chance for a birthday with identical triple digits for another 88 years — on Jan. 1, 2101. Crystal and Christopher Hughes already had their first bout of good fortune when they welcomed their third child into the world (nearly two weeks after her scheduled due date) perfectly healthy.

“She is a very special little girl and waited so long for this special day,” said Crystal, who grew up in Banks.

Charlotte will join her two older brothers, stay-at-home mom and plumber dad at their home in Tigard in a few days, and will meet much of her extended family during holiday celebrations.

More than two dozen babies were born in the Portland area last Wednesday. At least one, a boy born at Meridian Park Medical Center in Tualatin, arrived at exactly 12:12 p.m.
