The Forest Grove Parks and Recreation Department is applying for another state grant — this time for a 3,300-foot section of trail that would connect the Highway 47 trail to the B Street Trail, creating a 1.6-mile loop. The path would border the development on the other side of the large open area adjacent to the southern tip of the B-Street Trail. Total cost would be $327,000 and the city is applying for a one-to-one match, with Forest Grove providing $163,500 in system-development charges, while state lottery money would provide the rest.

If the city wins the grant — notification will be this summer — the project would likely start next fall and finish in May 2015, said Jeff King, Forest Grove's economic development manager.
