Gaston School District will see two incumbents return to the school board for four-year terms.

Karen Fordyce and Roger Mesenbrink, running for positions 2 and 3, respectively, have no opponents.

Fordyce, a retired regisered nurse, was appointed to the board in November 2012. She and her family have lived in Gaston for more than 20 years and her four children graduated from Gaston High School.

"I have been challenged by how much there is to learn and rewarded by the results of the effort to understand and be a part of the decision-making process," Fordyce said.

Mesenbrink is running for a second term on the board. He has served on the board since 2009. He is the chief of Gaston Rural Fire District.
