The team has won the event four of the last six years.

Banks FFA was one of 12 teams to compete this year. Along with the first-place team finish, Banks had six students place in the top 10 as individuals: First — Stefani Evers; fourth — Nick Evers; fifth — Kortni Ragsdale; sixth — Gerritt Schmidlkofer; seventh — Megan Sprute; and ninth — David Wren.

The team will represent Oregon FFA at the National FFA Dairy Cattle Evaluation Career Development Event held during the National FFA Convention in October in Louisville, Ky.

The Dairy Cattle Judging Career Development Event tests students’ knowledge of the dairy industry and their ability to evaluate dairy cows and heifers based on industry standards.

Students must place six classes of four animals each, then give two sets of oral reasons where they describe and explain to a judge why they placed the cows the way they did, as well as taking a written test on the dairy industry.
