by: COURTESY PHOTO: VALLEY ART - Shoppers enjoy a previous First Wednesday at Valley Art, which will have classes, demonstrations and receptions this summer to brighten up the season. Forest Grove could be so much fun this summer, locals won’t want to leave.

The First Wednesday celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. June 5 will fill Forest Grove streets with fun, food, arts, crafts, deals, entertainment and more.

It will also help locals plan a summer ‘staycation’ in Forest Grove. Get a taste for the area’s entertainment options — you might just decide to stick around the next few months.

Summa Real Estate will host a reception for Lynne Taylor with wine, hor d’oeuvres, and music by Dennis Morehouse. Taylor has a fine-art and custom-framing business, Laurelwood Art. Her favorite medium is watercolor and her paintings are incorporations of science, spirituality and ancient history, dream-image spiritual pieces, environmental statements and visions for world peace. Original art and reasonably priced prints in several sizes will be available for purchase.

Stop by Valley Art for information on their summer classes, receptions, programs and events for kids and adults. Stay a while and find out how art can enhance the season.

A booth on 21st Avenue will have additional information on local escapes — museums, outdoor adventures and recreational gems.

Meanwhile, the Main Street market vendors will sell fresh produce, hot meals, arts and crafts from 4 to 8 p.m.

Artisans in the Grove plans to set up a booth to provide a low-cost opportunity for local artists, crafters and performers to share their talents with the community. Lori Presthus’s artwork will be featured at A Framers Touch, where passersby can stop for hor d’oeuvres and wine tasting.

Connie’s Corner Cafe, Izgara, New Chinese Cuisine, Little Monkey Deli, My Place Tavern and Grendel’s will be offering food and drink specials.

Periscope Books & Tutoring and Heirloom Antiques are having special staycation sales from 5 to 8 p.m. as well as Esoteric Stuff, where visitors can take a global tour of exotic and historical artifacts right here in Forest Grove.
