Steven Douglas Rockett of Forest Grove in jail with bail set at $500,000

A 44-year-old Forest Grove man and Synopsys employee was arrested Friday, Aug. 23, for sex crimes, according to Sgt. Bob Ray of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

At his arraignment Monday afternoon, Steven Douglas Rockett was charged with one count each of first-degree sodomy, first-degree sex abuse, using a child in a display of sexual content, second-degree rape and second-degree sodomy. Additional charges were scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, including two counts of first-degree sexual penetration and two counts of first-degree sex abuse.

Ray said child-abuse detectives at the sheriff’s office received a report that Rockett had engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with three underage females in Aloha and that he had solicited nude photographs from at least one of them.

According to Ray, detectives have previously investigated Rockett for sex-related crimes over the past 14 years but never got enough evidence to charge him.

Ray said Rockett was a well-paid employee at Synopsys, a Hillsboro company that provides products and services to the global electronics market, and was able to travel extensively and internationally, including trips to Thailand and The Philippines, Ray said.

Forest Grove police detectives helped serve the search warrant at the home of Rockett, who is currently being held in the Washington County Jail on $500,000 bail.

Washington County detectives are searching for additional victims and asking anyone with further information to contact them at 503-846-2500.
