Forest Grove Curves, dance arts studio offer free exercise classes

As vacation season ends, Forest Grove offers several special deals for buckling down this year and working on physical fitness.

Forest Grove Dance Arts, 1819 19th Ave., recently joined the Silver and Fit and Silver Sneakers programs, meaning certain insurance companies will cover exercise classes for qualifying seniors. Seniors can call their insurance companies to find out if they qualify. Those who don’t can still participate for $30 a month.

Classes are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:15 a.m. and 10 a.m. For more information, call Sue Groszmann, senior exercise instructor, at 503-473-9386 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The Forest Grove Aquatic Center offers classes through the Silver and Fit program as well.

New members at Curves of Forest Grove, 1929 21st Ave., can get 30 days free in September if they enroll for a full year the first time they visit and if they set up payment via automatic withdrawal.

The weight-loss and fitness club chain for women is known for its 30-minute “Curves Circuit,” which potential members can try for free before they sign up.

“New members are often surprised at how much of a workout they can get in just 30 minutes,” said owner Gretchen Keefer.

The September offer is limited to one free 30-day membership per person. Membership costs $34 per month, with a one-time $59 service fee, which will be cut to half-price for new members taking advantage of the special.

For more information, call Keefer at 503-359-5454 or visit or
