Gales Creek library to open on Wednesdays

The library at the former Gales Creek Elementary School, 9125 N.W. Sargent Road, will be open on Wednesday evenings beginning Oct. 2.

Local historian Joyce Sauber and Forest Grove School Board member Joyce Sauber plan to help children check out books and host reading and other activities each week from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The school closed in 2010 in the wake of severe budget cuts and currently houses a number of special education students. District officials said community members could continue to use the building for various events. Sauber said Monday that the library hosted between two and 15 children weekly for a summertime library program in June, July and August.

For more information about Wednesday events, call Sauber at 503-357-2663 or Grandusky at 503-359-5746.

Zeiger most recently served as dean and professor in the School of Social Work at Dalton State College in Georgia.
