Owners offer big liquidation sale through Dec. 31

Watz Up Hillsboro Music Company is closing its doors after 23 years in downtown Hillsboro—and holding a liquidation sale through Dec. 31.

Ken Scandlyn, who co-owned the store with wife Kelly Scandlyn, said he is back out on the road playinag music (“my first love”) and that he and Kelly want to spend more time with their granddaughter.

“One thing we will miss is all the great customers we have had the pleasure of working with,” he wrote in an announcement letter.

Small music stores such as Watz Up have had a hard time competing with Internet sales and “big box” stores, he wrote.

“It’s time for us to enjoy our life and not worry about things we can’t change.”

The sale will liquidate the store’s entire inventory, offering discounts from 25 to 80 percent off, Scandlyn wrote, adding that no reasonable offer will be refused.

Watz Up is located at 270 E. Main St. in downtown Hillsboro.
