The following significant public events are set this week in Forest Grove:

n Tonight, Wednesday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. — Help shape the Council Creek Regional Trail. Attend the open house in Forest Grove’s Community Auditorium, 1915 Main St., and weigh in on the trail’s route and design. Trail planners are considering four possible routes from Hillsboro through Cornelius and Forest Grove and up to Banks. People can also weigh in on what kind of trail they’d like. Options include a 10- to 12-foot wide multiuse trail for both pedestrians and bicycles; an 8-foot or narrower trail for pedestrians only; or a street solution that uses street right-of-way. The open house will feature a short presentation at 6:15 p.m.

n Tomorrow, Thursday, June 5, 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. — Forest Grove’s beloved Police Log comes to life through a ‘virtual ride-along’ with Capt. Mike Herb, who will narrate the events of a regular Thursday evening shift from the passenger seat of a patrol car. Herb will post updates through words, photos and videos on Facebook and Twitter in a groundbreaking outreach effort that is new to the Portland metropolitan area and is one of the first statewide. According to Herb, the shift is likely to include “everything from domestic disturbances, traffic stops, suspicious-person calls, theft” and more. To tune in, simply “like” the Forest Grove Police Facebook page or follow along on Twitter at
