The church on 17th Avenue will install Rev. Nick Koschmann as its fifth minister on Sunday, Aug. 10, at 4 p.m. He replaces Pastor Ted Will, the interim pastor since 2013.

Koschmann, 34, most recently served as assistant pastor of youth and young adults at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Trenton, Mich. He graduated from Concordia University in River Forest, Ill., in 2003 and from Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Mo., in 2007.

He also completed the master of arts in ministry program at Wesley Seminary at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind., and worked at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kaukauna, Wisc.

A native of Juneau, Alaska, Koschmann originally planned to become a high school band director, but during his sophomore year at Concordia in River Forest he changed majors and joined the pre-seminary program, according to Mt. Olive staff member Linda Holscher.

Pastor Koschmann and wife, Rachael, have four children: Lucy, 8, Murray, 6, Ginny, 3, and baby Wiley. They moved to Forest Grove July 20. Mt. Olive is located at 2325 17th Ave.
