Former Pacific professor sends in endorsement of John Hayes for school board

Hayes' 'broad experience' needed on school board

It is my great pleasure to write this enthusiastic letter in support of John Hayes, the incumbent for the Forest Grove School Board, Position 1.

I have known and worked with John Hayes ever since he served as my dean at Pacific University, until I retired in 2011. During that time, I also served on the school board, including several years as chair. I have never met a more highly-qualified candidate and John Hayes has my full support.

In his years on the board, John has become a trusted adviser to the Oregon School Boards Association, regional governments and the state legislature. He has promoted and advocated for excellent programs and improvements throughout the district. He is an expert in budgetary matters as well as all things related to sustainability. John is a careful listener and has a keen mind that sorts out the complexities in competing issues, helping patrons and colleagues reach good decisions.

Given the current national controversies and trends in public education, and the ongoing stresses on education funding in this state, the patrons of this district need to have John Hayes on the school board for the broad experience and wisdom he brings to the task.

John Hayes has my vote and I encourage other voters to reelect him for Position 1 on the Forest Grove School Board.
