Tierney takes reins of Forest Grove lacrosse
Forest Grove High School has hired Scott Tierney as the new head coach for boys lacrosse.
Tierney has four years of lacrosse coaching experience. He was an assistant coach with FGHS boys lacrosse for the 2017 season, as well as a coach and board member for Forest Grove Youth Lacrosse in 2016 and 2017. Before that he coached for two years with Liberty Youth Lacrosse in Hillsboro.
"[We're] very excited to have Coach Tierney at the helm," said FGHS Boys Lacrosse President Tammi McLaughlin. "We will be starting our eighth season as a lacrosse club here in the community of Forest Grove and after building a solid foundation, it's time t
o take our team to a new level of expectation, discipline and success."
Tierney takes over for departing head coach Michael Hummel, who coached all seven seasons of Viking lacrosse so far.
Lacrosse is supported by Forest Grove High as a tier-two sport, meaning the sport is not sanctioned by the Oregon School Activities Association. However, the high school supports the club by providing transportation for teams while allowing Viking athletes to officially represent the high school.
