Police investigate Wednesday stabbing

A 23-year-old man was hit in the head with a bottle and stabbed in the chest in what police suspect is a gang-related attack.

The victim, Matthew Booth, 23, told police he was assaulted by several men after a verbal argument on the sidewalk at Southeast 157th Avenue and Division Street just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, said Sgt. Pete Simpson, Portland police spokesman.

Paramedics transported Booth to a Portland hospital for treatment of a stab wound to his chest and head injuries from being hit with a bottle. His injuries are described as non-life threatening.

The Portland Police Bureau’s Gang Enforcement Team is investigating.

Gresham City Council roundtable canceled

The Gresham City Council round table discussion schedule for Tuesday, Nov. 27, has been canceled. The council will meet in executive session at 3 p.m. Tuesday, which is not open to the public.

Christmas drive for foster children

For the second year, Christine Hartmann is holding a Christmas present drive for foster children in Gresham, Fairview and Troutdale.

Name tags and Christmas wish lists for 60 foster children in the three communities will be hung on two trees — at 76 Express Lube, 22001 N.E. Halsey St., Fairview and A Shot in the Dark, 2517 S.W. Cherry Park Road, Troutdale — beginning Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Families may choose a tag from the tree and buy presents for the child, returning the unwrapped gifts by Thursday, Dec. 20, to Real Time Roasters, 603 S.E. 223rd Ave., Gresham.

Hartmann said she is willing to pick up donations directly from sponsoring families. Call her at 971-570-0533.
