A 20-year-old man Gresham admitted performing sexual acts at a park with at least two children, according to Gresham COURTESY: MULTNOMAH COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE - Richard Ascoli

Richard James Ascoli is being held on $1 million bail at the Multnomah County Detention Center on allegations of sex abuse and sodomy. Police arrested Ascoli at 7:54 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, on allegations that he sexually abused a 6-year-old boy in Rockwood Central Park, at Southeast 176th Avenue and Yamhill Street in Gresham, said Lt. Claudio Grandjean, Gesham Police spokesman.

Investigators learned that Ascoli sexually abused the child on multiple occasions. Ascoli also allegedly abused an 8-year-old boy on multiple occasions this year and last year.

Neither victim is related to Ascoli and investigators believe that Ascoli befriended the children in the park before abusing them, Grandjean said. Court documents indicate he admitted to the abuse.

Child Abuse Team detectives believe there may be additional victims in the community who have not reported the abuse.
