Auction benefits area rehab center

A silent auction in southeast Gresham is scheduled to benefit R&R New Options Equine Inc., a rescue group that ministers to the needs of youths and horses at the ranch just south of Sandy.

Among the items for auction are four tickets to Disneyland, a show saddle trimmed in silver, a trail saddle, two tickets to Mt. Hood Meadows, a gaming saddle and area floor rugs.

The all-volunteer New Options ranch is the sole beneficiary. All proceeds from the event will aid in the care of the horses, and indirectly, in the rehabilitation of disadvantaged youths. The auction is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Pleasant Valley Grange Hall, 17115 S.E. Foster Road, near 172nd Avenue in Gresham.

PGE awards grants to two local causes

Portland General Electric awarded 61 grants totaling $25,770 to nonprofit groups where PGE employees and retirees volunteer, in seven different counties, for its semiannual Community Service Grants program.

Corbett Children’s Theatre received $400, and Gresham High School was awarded $250.

“The care and dedication our employees show for all aspects of the community through their volunteer work is truly inspiring,” said Kregg Arntson, PGE community affairs manager. “We’re proud to support the time and energy our employees give the organizations they care about most.”

Selected organizations received awards of up to $500, and each organization to receive a grant was nominated by PGE employees.
