The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) District Board of Education and members of the Part-Time Faculty & Tutor Association (PFTA) have approved a new four-year agreement.

The agreement builds on practices established in the prior contract that aim to attract and retain top-notch part-time faculty and tutors.

“We are pleased the bargaining sessions have been productive, with both groups working collaboratively … toward an agreement,” said Diane Noriega, Board chairwoman.

Noriega applauded the efforts of Marilyn Pitts, PFTA president, and Ursula Irwin, associate vice president of instruction, and their teams.

Pitts says the agreement will improve the working life of MHCC’s part-time faculty and tutors.

“I’m really pleased with the results of our negotiations,” Pitts said. “Both the college and PFTA’s teams worked hard to get a reasonable contract.”

The contract is retroactive to July 1, 2013. The previous contract covered the four years ending June 30, 2013.

Bargaining teams for the PFTA and the college held pre-negotiation discussions in November 2012 leading up to their recent agreement.
