Suspect identified as Dirck Morgan White, 41, from Edgefield, Wash.

by: CLACKAMAS COUNTY SHERIFF - Dirck Morgan WhiteA Clackamas County employee was shot and killed south of Boring just before 11 a.m. Thursday morning, Feb. 6, according to KOIN TV news.

The shooting took place at the intersection of Southeast Amisigger Road and Highway 224, which was closed at Bakers Ferry Road Thursday afternoon as Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies canvassed the area for the suspect.

Lt. Robert Wurpes of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said the shooting occurred at 10:48 a.m.

The Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the name of the victim, but the suspect has been identified as Dirck Morgan White, 41, from Edgefield, Wash. Investigators consider him armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him should call 9-1-1 immediately.

White is currently wanted on a weapons charge from Pierce County, Wash. He was last seen driving a silver 4-door 2004 Mercedes 320 with a Washington license plate.

The victim worked as a weightmaster for Clackamas County. A weightmaster is the person who enforces truck stop weight stations along various roads and highways.

A witness, Elias Duhrkoop, told KOIN 6 News he was running errands and saw a man lying in the road. He stopped and tried to help, but said the county employee was already dead. Duhrkoop called 9-1-1.

He said the employee stopped a truck hauling wood because it did not have a license plate, and said the truck — an O’Malley Brothers truck — was driving off when he pulled up.

Investigators confirmed that White is in some way connected to O’Malley Brothers, a company near Estacada. A SWAT unit searched the building and did not find White, but employees are cooperating with the investigation.

Wurpes said that no one else was injured in the incident.

The victim will probably be identified tomorrow, Wurpes said, as soon as his family is informed.
