'Fairview on the Green' returns to Community Park
At the family-friendly Fairview on the Green celebration, large bounce houses overshadowed all the other activities.
And the kids there didn't waste any time bouncing on the inflatables and traversing down a blow-up slide during the 12th annual community event on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Community Park 21600. N.E. Park Lane.
While the kids played in the bounce houses, parents could listen to music in the beer garden or browse through wares from craft vendors lining the street. One truly family-friendly activity was the Chalk the Walk competition where attendees decorated the sidewalk outside Fairview City Hall. The competition was divided into age categories ranging from young children to adult.
Married couple Megan and Tim Hanson, who recently moved to Fairview, decorated a couple of sidewalk squares while their son played in the bounce houses.
"We weren't planning on participating," Megan said. "We were walking by to admire the art, and they asked if we would like to showcase our creative side, and we said sure."
