COMMENTS: Trump creates 'schism' in Multnomah County GOP
Editor's note: The Outlook quoted Multnomah County Republican Party elections integrity chairman Frank Martin last week as saying, "We had a schism inside our party. There are some people in the party who think we should be more moderate. (They're) thinking that supporting Donald Trump after he won the primary was an evil thing."
The story, "Trump creates 'schism' in Multnomah County GOP," appeared at the bottom of Page A1 of the Friday, Sept. 29, edition.
"There's a large liberal or progressive movement in this county, and they would like nothing better than for us to go away," Martin added. "I don't agree. That's not a part of freedom."
The story went on to describe a fundraising effort for the county GOP, which is raffling an M&P15, a semi-automatic tactical rifle.
Here's what people have been saying on the Outlook's Facebook page after viewing the story:
COMMENT:I don't want to see the Republican party destroyed because we need a healthy balance and cooperation between liberal and conservative values. But as long as Trump supporters and Tea Party extremists run the party, they will never have my vote. So please, GOP, get your act together and get back to solid conservative values so I have choices again.
COMMENT:I have been a lifelong Republican but will be registering as either a Democrat or an independent next election!

COMMENT:Oregon blames (President) Trump ... sad, sad. So Oregon wants (Gov. Kate) Brown ... wow. Pay higher everything. Fifth most expensive state to live in! Oregon needs to clean (its) swamp.
COMMENT:No wonder the party is in shambles, if all they can do to help it is do a raffle. Pretty funny.
COMMENT:Was it just me, or did this article read more like an ad for the (Multnomah County Republican Party's) raffle, than a (news) article?
