Franciska “Frances” Thayer

Gresham resident Franciska “Frances” Thayer died Wednesday, Nov. 14. She was 84.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Gresham Memorial Chapel, 257 S.E. Roberts Ave., Gresham. Interment was held at Willamette National Cemetery.

Frances was born Aug. 26, 1928, in Gilching, Germany, the daughter of Valentine and Natalia (Anton) Furbacher.

Frances was raised and educated in Germany. In 1950 she married Walter Thayer, an American G.I. stationed in Germany.

Frances worked for Electronic Specialties on the assembly line, retiring in 1990.

Her husband preceded her in death in 2004.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Beijer and Mary Bell; sister, Maria Schaefer; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family suggests contributions to the Arthritis Foundation.

Gresham Memorial is handling arrangements.

Lawrence “Larry” Chadwick Crowley

July 12, 1929-Nov. 14, 2012

Larry Crowley died Wednesday, Nov. 14. He was 83.

At his request, no services will be held.

Larry was born July 12, 1929, in Hoquiam, Wash. He was raised and educated in Monmouth by his mother Eleanor Comstock Crowley Kem and her husband Victor Kem.

A retired elementary school teacher, Larry was a member of the Gresham Eagles No. 2151.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Crowley; children, Kim Pasi and Kip Crowley; grandchildren; and numerous friends.

Donations may be made to Meals on Wheels.

Estelle Margaret Sullivan

May 7, 1926-Nov. 26, 2012

Portland resident Estelle Sullivan died Monday, Nov. 26. She was 86.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, with a visitation at 5 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at St. Henry Catholic Church.

Estelle was born May 7, 1926, in Cleveland to Mathew and Evelyn Slavin. She graduated from John Marshall High School and later attended Mt. Hood Community College.

Estelle married Thomas Sullivan. They had six children and moved to the Gresham area in 1966. They were later divorced.

Estelle worked as a real estate agent for many years. She was an active member of St. Henry Catholic Church and instrumental in the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry.

She was preceded in death by her son James Sullivan.

Estelle is survived by her sons, Tom Sullivan Jr., Raymond Sullivan and Michael Sullivan; daughters, Paddee Buzzard and Pamela Hergert; sisters, Ann and Kathryn; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Howard I Angell

August 10, 1920 – November 10, 2012

A memorial service will be held December 1, 2012 at Omega Funeral Home 223 SE 122nd Portland at 11:00 am. Howard was the 5th of eight children born in Goodland Kansas. He moved to Oregon and settled for a short time in Milton-Frewater before moving to the Portland Metro area. He is survived by his three children, Ron, Don and Andrea, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Survivors also include his two sisters, Albina Flannery, Phyllis Kohls and his companion, Irene Alger. Howard spent most of his life working in Heavy Construction. He built multiple Manufactured Home Parks and RV parks.

Benjamin Aaron Gering

July 8, 1940 - November 26, 2012

Benjamin Aaron Gering was born on July 8, 1940 in Kendrick, Idaho, and entered into rest on November 26, 2012 in Gresham, Oregon.

Ben lived a fulfilling life. He loved Jesus and his family more than anything. He had a passion for music and loved playing his guitar in church.

He worked in construction most of his life and retired from Walsh Construction Company as a Superintendent in December 1999.

He was married to Donna Pixler from 1960 to 1976. He married Sharon Smith in 1978, and was with her until the time of his passing. He leaves behind his wife, 9 children and spouses, 21 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a brother and sister.

His Celebration Service will be at Mount Hood Christian Center in Gresham, Oregon at 5pm on December 1, 2012.
