Java Junkies raise Bucks for Kids

Patrons of nearly 175 West Coast Dutch Bros. Coffee locations raised $93,000 during the company's annual Bucks for Kids Day in December.

Locally, Gresham's Dutch Bros. kiosks collected $2,000 from customers, which will help support regional nonprofit agencies' work with children.

Dutch Bros. is the largest privately-held drive-through coffee company in the country. Founded in Southern Oregon in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma, Dutch Bros. annually returns 1 percent of its gross sales to the communities it serves. In 2010, the company donated more than $1 million to local food banks, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, American Cancer Society, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and other organizations.

'We're thrilled to share this Bucks for Kids donation with the communities in which we work and live,' said Dutch Bros. co-founder Travis Boersma. 'Our franchisees and customers are very committed to supporting local organizations, and we're thankful for their eagerness to give back.'
