Gresham takes on the pool-play champions with the ESPN2 cameras rolling

The Gresham Nationals enter Thursday's Little League Regional semifinals as the #4 seed after seeing Montana beat Alaska 7-3 in the final pool-play game Wednesday afternoon.

The win left Montana and Gresham National tied with 2-2 round-robin records, but Montana holds the tiebreaker for the #3 seed based on its 6-5 head-to-head win from Tuesday.

That means Gresham National will play under the lights at 8 p.m. Thursday night against pool-play champion Mercer Island, WA — a club that went 4-0 and outscored opponents by almost seven runs per game.

However, Mercer Island's biggest scare came on opening day against Gresham when it trailed 2-0 early before rallying for a tight 6-4 victory.

Thursday's semifinal winners will meet for the championship on Saturday with the Northwest champ advancing to next week's Little League World Series.

Regional semifinal matchups: televised Thursday on ESPN2

2 p.m. — #2 Post Falls, ID vs. #3 Arrowhead, MT

8 p.m. — #1 Mercer Island, WA vs. #4 Gresham, OR
