Ellie Coulton starts the second half with the winning goal

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Barlows Taylor Rispler works the ball down the sideline, while Centennials LeAnn Phanakhone comes on in pursuit. The Barlow girls soccer team struck early in the second half for what proved to be the winning goal to kick off the Mount Hood Conference season with a 2-1 win over Centennial on Tuesday night.

Ellie Coulton was the difference maker, running onto a pass from Katie Austinson, taking two quick dribbles and firing the ball past the keeper for a 2-0 lead with about 35 minutes to play.

Centennial got one goal back on a penalty shot in the 65th minute, but the final phases of the match were spent mostly in the midfield or in the Eagles’ half of the field. Centennial didn’t manage to get off another shot.

Barlow’s Emma Lustig scored the night’s first goal in the game’s 24th minute.
