L and C BOYS HOOPS - Corbett holds off late rush by Columbians
by: David Ball Corbett’s Austin Metcalf passes the ball inside during a game earlier this year.

The Corbett boys basketball team bolstered its chances to host a Lewis and Clark League playoff game by completing a season sweep of first-place Rainier on Saturday. The Cardinals led from start-to-finish, but had to withstand a furious late rally by the Columbians before boarding the bus with a 48-47 win.

Corbett was in front by nine points, as the clock rolled under two minutes, but Rainier's trapping defense forced four straight turnovers - each one resulting in points for the home team.

'They were pressing us pretty hard, and when they got the ball they made every shot,' Corbett coach Jeff Smith said.
