A pair of long TD throws from QB Josh Schleining help Reynolds down Barlow 42-28

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Reynolds running back Hutu Spencer charges forward during the second half of Fridays 42-28 win over Barlow. TROUTDALE — Reynolds is making a return trip to the 6A state playoffs after scoring three straight second-half touchdowns to down Barlow 42-28 on Friday night.

Barlow pulled even at 21-21 midway through the third quarter on a 16-yard TD run by Garrett Childress, but the deadlock wouldn’t last long.

Less than a minute later, Reynolds QB Josh Schleining fired a pass over the middle to Quentin Bates, who turned up field and went 65 yards to the end zone.

Schleining would connect with Isaiah Reyes-Johnson on a 60-yard strike down the sideline on the next drive.

The Raiders put the game away when Schleining dumped a short pass to running back Hutu Spencer on 3rd-and-18. Spencer flashed down the sideline and cracked into some tacklers before being shoved out of bounds a footprint short of the marker.

Spencer converted the fourth-down play with a slam into the middle and took the same route over the goal line two plays later to make it 42-21 Raiders.

Reynolds locked up third place in the MHC with the win, claiming the league’s final spot into the 6A state bracket.
