Barlow strikes twice in the first half and goes unchallenged in a 3-0 win over Canby

by: THE OUTLOOK: DAVID BALL - Barlows Taylor Rispler makes a run down the sideline against Canby defender Emily Perman during Saturdays 3-0 home win. The Barlow girls soccer team kept its season rolling Saturday night with a 3-0 win over Canby to open the OSAA 6A playoffs.

The Bruins got on the scoreboard midway through the first half when Taylor Rispler won the ball in the midfield and played it down the sideline to teammate Bethany Leliefeld. She took a couple dribbles into open space before curving a ball across the front of the goal. Canby goalie Heoniya Sharabarin stayed frozen on the goal line, while Barlow’s Kiki Kjeldsen rushed onto the scene for a clean put away at the far post.

Barlow took a 2-0 lead into the intermission after Leliefeld beat a pair of defenders and let loose with a quick shot from 30 yards out that skipped across the turf and beat the diving goalie into the side of the net.

Barlow put the game away with 14:28 to play. Kerri Cook sent a long clearance ball out of the back, and teammate Hailee Stotts ran onto it and buried a shot into the back of the net.

Barlow (11-1-3) extended its streak to 14 matches without a loss and will host Lincoln (10-4-0) in the second round at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
