by: David Ball Barlow’s Alicia Whipple clears the bar during her win in the high jump, helping the Bruins to a dominating day in the field events during a dual-meet sweep over Saint Mary’s and Central Catholic on Wednesday.

Mother Nature proved to be the only thing capable to standing in Barlow's way Wednesday afternoon, but the Bruins came together to conquer the elements and their opponents for a key three-way sweep that establishes them as the team to beat heading into the last month of the season.

The Barlow girls set the tone from the opening race - a battle between two of the elite 400-meter relays in the state. The Bruins got out quick and put pressure on Saint Mary's to catch up, as a result, the Blues bobbled the baton and were disqualified.

Barlow's tag-team came across the line in 49.40 seconds - a time that ranks third-best at the 6A level this year, just .12 hundredths behind Lakeridge in the No. 1 spot.
