Main City Park hosts the summer's first event on June 7

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - Racers prepare to start the first race in the series last summer. Whether you are into road racing or simply looking for people to run with then you might want to keep your Wednesday nights open this summer.

That's because the Eastwind Running & Endurance Club is kicking off its 2nd Annual Summer Running Series. Starting with a three-mile race on June 7 at Gresham's Main City Park, series events are scheduled every Wednesday through Aug. 30 at various locations from East Portland to Sandy.

Vicki Hall, 47, ran most of the races in last year's summer series. Nearly 40 people turned out each night, with some walking 14-minute miles and others running in the mid-6s.

"Everyone supports them and cheers them on," said Hall, who lives in Fairview. "There's a big finish line; it's a lot of fun. The people who are already in, they're rooting for you."
