Barlow's volleyball team boosted its playoff position with a convincing three-set sweep over Gresham to hit the half-way pole in the league schedule Tuesday night.

The Bruins cruised through the first two sets winning 50 of 72 (.694) points before Gresham put up some resistance in the third.

The Gophers moved to within a point on three occasions — the last coming at 19-18 after a block in the middle by Rylee Myers.

But Barlow never trailed.

The Bruins took command late when Josie Carlson hit an attack from the left side that dropped between three diving Gophers on the other side.

Gresham turned back a pair of match points before a serve into the net ended the night.

Barlow (4-3) starts the second cycle of the Mount Hood Conference season at home Thursday against first-place Central Catholic, while Gresham (3-4) hosts Reynolds.
