CORBETT — Corbett's volleyball team scored its biggest win of the season with a three-set sweep over Estacada last Thursday, which knocked the Rangers out of first place in the Tri-Valley Conference for the first time this season.

The Cardinals overcame an eight-point deficit early in the second set, winning 13 of 17 points (.765) to take over the lead on an ace by Bella Dentler.

The teams would trade the lead several times down the stretch with Corbett moving to set point on a kill by Heather Flannagan.

Estacada floated an over pass across the middle, and Zoe Chatterton was quick off her feet to block it back over and claim the set.

The teams were tied on five consecutive points early in the third set before Corbett put together an eight-point spurt to take command of the set on their way to the 25-17, 25-23, 25-17 match victory.

The win pushed the Cardinals (5-3) ahead of Molalla for third place in the Tri-Valley, giving them the inside track in the chase for one of the 4A play-in qualifier spots.

Corbett hosts Madras at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10.
