Austin Davis and Jaren Hunter are taking turns behind center for the Bruins this fall

OUTLOOK PHOTO: DAVID BALL - Austin Davis and Jaren Hunter go over the play list along the sideline with quarterback coach Alex Grandjean and Bruins head coach Terry Summerfield. Barlow football coach Terry Summerfield was impressed by what he saw out of his quarterbacks senior Austin Davis and sophomore Jaren Hunter during fall camp. Sharp passes, good decisions, effective leadership. With the season opener only a few weeks away, the coach had a difficult decision ahead.

Or did he?

It was like sitting down at a restaurant and hearing that two of your favorites were on that night's menu.

May I take your order?

Both, please.

And so that is how the Bruins' quarterback position has played out this season.

Davis plays the odd quarters and Hunter takes the field for the even quarters.

"We had two great quarterback options, so why not take advantage of what they both bring to the team," Summerfield said. "Austin is a very competitive kid and he wants to play, so I'd say it's been hardest for him, but I haven't come around too many Austin Davis's — it only works because of who he is."
