PORTLAND — Taking on Teagan Quitoriano and the Sprague hoops squad is no easy task. The 6'5" senior post led the state in scoring and rebounding last season and is signed to play football at the University of Oregon next year.

David Douglas was able to keep him in check in the first half, limiting him to seven points. But the Scots wouldn't be as fortunate in the final 16 minutes. Quitoriano went off for 17 points in the second half — giving him 24 for the game — as the Olympians defeated David Douglas 70-57 on Tuesday night in the Scots final non-conference game.

"It's tough guarding a guy like that. (Quitoriano) is a strong dude. We played him really well in the first half, but we couldn't match that intensity for some reason in the second half," David Douglas's Allen Talybov said. "He did a great job readjusting to our defense. That's why he led the state in scoring last year."

Talybov, who guarded Quitoriano for most of the game, led the Scots with 19 points and Abdi Dahir pitched in with 18 points of his own. Both players had the inside-out game working early on as Dahir knocked down three triples in the first half, while Talybov had six buckets inside the paint.

"Me and Allen have really good chemistry with each other. We share the ball well and we know when things have to happen and when we need to score," Dahir said. "With both of us being seniors, we work together well."

Both teams went back and forth with neither team holding more than a three-point lead during the first half. Talybov hit a 3-pointer from the corner to put the Scots up 38-35, but Sprague's Kobe Withers responded with a trey of his own to tie the game at 38.
