Team Score
David Douglas (5-6)
Barlow (3-8)

The David Douglas girls locked down Barlow early to run away with a 58-24 win Friday to open the Mount Hood Conference basketball season.

The Scots came out in a full-court press that caused the Bruins all sorts of trouble en route to building a 19-2 first-quarter lead.

David Douglas maintained control of the game into the second half, forcing a 5-second violation on a Barlow inbounds play. The Scots then fired a tall pass to Tayja Johnson on the block, and she went straight up for a quick two. Savannah Proske swished a 3-pointer on the team's next trip down court, allowing Douglas to double up the Bruins 40-20 after three quarters.

Proske finished with a game-high 20 points.

David Douglas hosts Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, while Barlow plays at Gresham.
