Centennial was clearly overmatched on Monday night at the District 2 Majors Little League Tournament as they fell to Clackamas by a score of 18-1 in four innings.

The Eagles sent Derick Gehrig-Alcorn to the mound to start the contest. Even though he struck out two batters in the top of the first, the right-hander gave up an inside-the-park home run and fell victim to a pair of errors as Centennial fell behind 4-0 early.

Offensively, Centennial threatened to score in every inning, but they were unable to come through with runners in scoring position. The Eagles opened the bottom half of the first with Gehrig-Alcorn getting hit by a pitch and Caiden Clark hitting a sharp single up the middle. However, the middle of the Centennial lineup couldn't manufacture a run.

Gehrig-Alcorn had a solid start to the top of the second as he struck out the first two batters he faced. But from there, things fell apart. A trio of Centennial errors led to five Clackamas runs and Gehrig-Alcorn was replaced on the mound by Evan Melton.

Trailing 9-0, it looked like Centennial would get a run back in the bottom of the second as Josh McGuire led off the frame with a double to the left field wall — which was the only extra-base hit on the night for the Eagles. However, later in the frame, McGuire was thrown out at home while trying to advance on a wild pitch.
