The Barlow boys water polo team stayed among the Mount Hood Conference leaders with a 17-13 home win over Sandy on Tuesday night.

The Bruins put the game away with a flurry of goals late in the third quarter — four goals in less than two minutes — that stretched their lead to a lopsided 16-7 by the end of the period.

C.J. Brushwood sparked the scoring spree with a breakaway goal and assisted on two others.

"We're able to jump off the bottom when counter attacking out of the shallow end and that gets everything started," he said.

Barlow (6-3) sits in fourth place in the league ladder heading into Thursday's showdown at undefeated Reynolds.
