Unexpected goal costs Reynolds down the stretch

|Reynolds Raiders (6-2-3)|
|Clackamas Cavaliers (4-3-4)|
The Reynolds boys soccer team held the upper hand twice, but was unable to close out the win during a 3-3 draw at Clackamas on Monday night.
The tying goal came unexpectedly after the Reynolds goalie was called for walking out of the 18-yard box while still cradling the ball.
Clackamas striker Tyler Bennett alertly grabbed it, and gave it a swift kick while still in a crouched-over position. Kaanu Cano flashed down the left side and booted the tying goal inside the far post, while the goalie was scrambling to get back to the goal line.
Reynolds keeper Luis Villamil redeemed his mistake in the final minute when he climbed high into the air to pull down a dangerous free kick with two Cavaliers rushing at him.
Reynolds had a chance to retake the lead down the stretch when Pedro Calderon curved a free kick into the box. Teammate Harith Al Obaide deflected the ball past a diving keeper from close range only to see the ball bounced harmlessly by the far post.
Reynolds (2-1-1) sits fourth in a tightly-bundled Mount Hood Conference ladder heading into tonight's 6:30 p.m. game against league-leading Central Catholic at Delta Park.
Calderon hit a blast from 40 yards out that glanced off the gloves of Clackamas goalie Hunter Johnson and banged off the cross bar. Al Obaide rushed onto the scene to clean up the rebound, putting the Raiders on top 3-2 with 18:11 to play.
