Team Score

The Barlow girls cross country team relied on its support pack to score a 13-point dual win at Sandy on Tuesday afternoon.

Sandy gained the early upper hand when its top two runners beat their Barlow counterparts to the finish line, but what followed was a wave of blue with the Bruins fitting the rest of their varsity seven ahead of Sandy's No. 3 racer.

Madison Collins led the charge, as a pack of five Barlow runners came through the finishing chute barely 10 seconds apart. It would be more than a minute before another Sandy runner would appear.

Sandy's Isabella Kansala won her first meet of the season with a time of 20:39 — almost a full minute ahead of the pack.

• It was a similar story on the boys side with Sandy's Tyler Callaway moving out to his third straight win of the league season, while Barlow filled the spots behind him to claim an 18-point team win.

Callaway kicked things into another gear over the final 400 meters to win the race with a time of 17:20.

Kooch came in 10 seconds later, followed by four more Bruins, as the team put its full scoring five in front of Sandy's No. 2 racer.
