Gresham runs over David Douglas to stay in the playoff chase
Mount Hood Conference

Gresham's football team relied on its ground game to run past David Douglas 47-24 on Thursday night.
The Gophers closed in on the victory when running back Austin Pick zipped around the left side and headed for the pylon. He ended up on a collision course with Scots' safety Michael Hodge, but Pick dropped his shoulder into the hit and tumbled over the goal line to put Gresham up 40-24 with five minutes left.
Needing a perfect finish to send the game to overtime, the Scots pulled off a trick play when Jermaine Robinson pitched the ball to Tre'Von Shepard for a hook-and-ladder down the sideline that moved the chains on fourth-and-25.
But the David Douglas magic would run out a few plays later when Gresham cornerback Reese McKenzie cut underneath a Scots receiver for an interception near the goal line.
Gresham (3-4) plays at Reynolds at 7 p.m. next Friday with the winner earning a spot into the Mount Hood Conference's third-place game the following week.
