WeVillage playcare and preschool to open

The drop-in child care center and preschool is at 1299 N.E. Orenco Station Parkway in Hillsboro. Parents are invited to bring their children and tour the 2,700-square-foot facility for free during the opening. City and business leaders are expected to attend the 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting.

WeVillage will offer services for children as young as 6 weeks. They include drop-in play care, infant care, toddler care, pre-school classes for children as young as 2½, after-school care and birthday parties. WeVillage will also offer healthy food from Dinner at Your Door and a retail section.

WeVillage will be open Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and on all public and school holidays. Costs are $10 per hour for the first child for members and $15 per hour for non-members, with discounts for additional siblings.

Membership fees vary according to the ages and numbers of children.

The first WeVillage is in Portland’s Pearl District.

Strategic plans focus of arts, culture workshop

The Nonprofit Association of Oregon will host a strategic planning workshop this month through the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council Professional Development Workshop series.

Kathy Kniep of the Nonprofit Association will discuss “Turning Your Strategic Plan into an Action Plan” from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 11. The workshop will cover the basics of strategic planning, including best practices and ways to create opportunities for board, staff and other stakeholders to participate in the process to help ensure your goals are implemented.

The workshop is in the Walters Cultural Arts Center, 527 E. Main St., Hillsboro. Light refreshments will be served.
