Hillsboro has a new Parks & Recreation director.

He is Wayne Gross, the assistant director who has been serving as interim director since 2012. Gross was named interim director after Steve Greagor was named assistant city manager last year.

Gross joined Hillsboro Parks & Recreation as assistant director in 2009. He has more than 30 years of executive experience in city and state government, beginning in his home state of Missouri, where he worked for the Department of Natural Resources for 18 years, including four years as deputy director and seven years as director of Missouri State Parks. He was also director of Parks and Recreation in Burlington, Vermont, for 15 years.

“Wayne’s extensive experience with parks and recreation and comprehensive knowledge of the City is a tremendous asset and a valuable resource to our community” said Michael Brown, City Manager.

Gross has a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Park Administration and a Masters in Public Administration both from University of Missouri. He resides in Tigard with his wife, Jane.
